Welcome to my black-and-white photography page, where each image tells a story through the timeless elegance of monochrome. My journey into the world of photography began unexpectedly, ignited by the flicker of curiosity in a high school classroom. It was there that I first glimpsed the power of freezing moments in time through the lens of a camera. From that moment on, photography became not just a hobby but a passion that fueled my creativity and ignited my soul. Please enjoy the depths of light and shadow, and the beauty of the world in its simplest form, through black and white photography.
Dismantled Sky Star
This is one of my favorite shots. We were in Golden Gate Park on a Tuesday morning to have breakfast with Claude at the Academy of Sciences, and the Sky Star was in the process of being dismantled. It was moved to Pier 39. I like this because, in addition to just being unique, it has the feel of a bygone era.
Smut Killer
I took this photo because “smut” was funny to me. I wondered what kind of smut was being killed with this funnel device. This is designed to kill an invasive species of grass called smut, and now you know too. 😁
Panels n Birds
I took this photo on a Tuesday morning in October of 2023. I took my daughter to see Claude, the albino alligator, and had breakfast at the California Academy of Sciences. They only offer this 2 times a year, so we missed work and school to go have breakfast with Claude. While waiting out front for the doors to open, I noticed these little birds sitting on the edge of the geometric shapes on the panels were pleasing to me.
Wente Lights
I took this photo while I was taking a wine-mixing class with my mom. I’m pretty sure it was a gift from her to me. They have this room set up at the Wente Estate in Livermore. These light fixtures hung above our workspaces. This was a great gift, and you got to take your own special blend home at the end, too.
Eureka
This was taken at Disney’s CA Adventure Park in Anaheim, CA. I worked for Disney as a “vacation planner,” the name for people who sold tickets out front, and I also got to work in the bank on Main St. I LOVE DISNEY. It is in my bones. I love the attention to detail and how the park can successfully take you to different lands within a few feet. It is one of my happy laces.
Seattle Aquarium
Capture the beauty of the Seattle Aquarium with this stunning black-and-white fine art photograph. Each piece is signed and numbered and comes with a white mat for effortless framing. This original piece of art is a must-have for any art lover looking to own a unique piece of Seattle’s waterfront. I took this for 2 reasons: 1- I liked the way the name was mirrored in the shot, and I love the Ferris wheel off in the distance.
Virginia City Gothic
I was SURE I had taken this recently and in Livermore. NOPE – shot this bad boy in 2008, on a road trip with my Mom and Uncle. This was in Virginia City. It made me think of the painting American Gothic, which is how it got its name.
Seattle Accordions
Introducing the whimsical Seattle Accordions black and white photo, capturing an art display of accordions hanging from the ceiling in Seattle’s Collections Cafe. This high-quality, signed, and numbered fine art photograph comes with a white mat and is part of a limited edition set of 188. Perfect for music and art enthusiasts. Get your piece of Seattle today. Why wouldn’t I take pictures of accordions hanging from the ceiling?! This just has an air of fun to it, and it is a unique collection. It might be the only proper way to display your accordion collection.
Field Plow
I took this photograph at our local pumpkin patch, Joan’s Farm. We live on the outskirts of the SF Bay Area. There is more agriculture present in our city than in a lot of the other cities that make up the Bay Area. I love old rusty forgotten things, I’m not sure why, but it is an aesthetic I like.
