INDUSTRIAL²

I LOVE old, rusty shit, repeating patterns, and an old run-down industrial aesthetic, in general, makes my brain happy. It’s not my decorating style at all, but I love it visually nonetheless, and wouldn’t be doing myself artistic justice if I didn’t make space for them here.

Forgotten Monterey

I took this from a balcony at the Monterey Plaza Inn in Monterey. We were there for our 10-year wedding anniversary. I like this image because you can almost see old Cannery Row – just the skeletons of old buildings right along the waterfront. The geometry is right, and the lighting is perfect.

Industry Gases

I have been working in the HVAC field for almost a decade now. The gases that are “kosher” change regularly. These are 4 different mixtures of HVAC refrigerant. I liked that someone set them up like that in a row. I find great satisfaction in a rainbow in nature.

Eureka

This was taken at Disney’s CA Adventure Park in Anaheim, CA. I worked for Disney as a “vacation planner,” the name for people who sold tickets out front, and I also got to work in the bank on Main St. I LOVE DISNEY. It is in my bones. I love the attention to detail and how the park can successfully take you to different lands within a few feet. It is one of my happy places.

Blue Legos

This is a really old photo; I may have taken this on my first iPhone, but my image data is not helpful for this one. This is the blue Lego bin at the Lego Store at Stoneridge Mall. Blue is my favorite color. My kids both love Legos, so this one was a must for my store.
Bright blue Legos fill the complete field of view.

Alameda Naval Base

I took this photo at the Alameda Point Antiques Fair, held on the first Sunday of every month. You can find some pretty cool things there, as well as stunning views of the San Francisco skyline. I found this little succulent out in the empty, windblown section of the giant black top. It’s impressive to me how this colorful little plant found itself there.

High in the Water

I took this photo of the draft marks on the side of a cargo ship while we were on a boat tour of the Seattle Harbor. This image isn’t in line with my decorating style, but I love it anyway. There is something about how simplistic it is. I also feel like the photo needs the bright green water at the bottom; it completes the image for me. While we were on the boat tour, we saw an eagle catch a fish out of the water; those images didn’t come out in focus, the plight of the photographer.

Photograph of white numbers, 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6 spray painted on the side of a black cargo shit. The number 6 sits below the water line and is in a rusty red strip and is almost worn off. The boat is sitting in bright green water at the very bottom of the image.
