AGRICULTURE²

One of my fondest childhood memories is of the huge “golf ball” ride at Disney’s Epcot Center. At the end of the ride, they had all these “futuristic” farming ideas, and I LOVED IT. (It was the late 1980s for reference, but might be where the idea of farm-to-table came from.) I love fresh food and recognize how lucky I am to live in California: as of 10/10/23, we are the number 1 producing state for food in the USA. I have always been drawn to the science of farming; the technology at the forefront of this field is mind-blowing. The progress being made in the ethical farming arena is exciting. I strongly believe that we don’t need to rape the land, and it isn’t necessary for livestock to live a miserable existence, in order for everyone to be fed. I love the variety of textures and colors found within this category. I see great value in eating fresh, whole foods and think there is no reason that my access to quality food, in the California Bay Area, shouldn’t be the standard in this country at large.</p>
Variegated Bells
| I don’t have a cute story for this, and it isn’t an exciting local, as is have stated before, I just really like the vibrant colors of the produce. 🤷♀️ This is one of those things that just gives me the feels. IDK if anyone will ever want to hang this in their home, but that isn’t really the point of me putting these out in the world. I just really like having the artistic outlet. ❤️ Thanks for looking. ✌️ |

Pepper’s Coop
Coming back to the idea of everyone having access to fresh produce, this image embodies what farm-to-table can be: bright and vibrant, and all locally sourced. This is a fresh vegetable spread at a wedding I went to for my husband’s friends. I took this image with my iPhone (I don’t make it a habit to carry my Canon camera to other people’s events like that.)
Carmel Artichoke
My husband used to get all expenses paid trips to swanky places (go into sales kids) and we have been fortunate enough to spend the weekend at the Carmel Valley Ranch. They have a lot of hiking trails on the property, and one of them leads you to the chef’s private garden. It is perfectly placed in the green rolling hills. It was exciting to stumble upon this little gem. I LOVE to photograph produce, so this was particularly exciting for me.
Middle School Dance
Agriculture, the act of farming, and the science behind it are amazing. This was taken while I was on an assignment for my stepdaughter at the Darcie Kent Vineyard. The local schools hold photo opportunities at the local vineyards before dances. My stepdaughter didn’t originally grow up in the Livermore Wine Valley, so it was exciting when we realized they had events for dances. It made for a stunning backdrop for all sorts of functions.
Fall Vineyard
| I created this image with my iPhone while wine-tasting with my mom. I live in Livermore, we like to say “Livermore makes wine and Napa makes auto parts.” We were checking out the Rubino Winery. It was the end of the season, and the leaves on the vines had all started to change, making for a beautiful image. |
