An Artsy Type of Commitment

Clearly, I fell off on this endeavor; a little. I was all proud of myself for working on this while on vacation, (in March). Then I returned and didn’t get back into the swing of things. Life keeps going and I decided a while ago that I was not anywhere near spending money on marketing, and I think it isn’t a legit business until I do that. Once I spend on marketing I expect an ROI.

I get 3-7 website views daily (shout out to my mom who I think checks in regularly.) I get about as many views on Etsy. My sister asked if I was making money doing this. Bless her heart, I have sold one image, and given a handful to family.

I enjoy this outlet and it would be awesome to sell something, but I also recognize that I am not putting the effort needed into really selling, I want an artistic outlet, not necessarily a job.

It was requested that I photograph a plant in my mom’s backyard, which sparked the addition of the COMMISIONS² page. I like the idea of taking on commissions. The only thing that I am not willing to take on is weddings. The stakes are too high, and I don’t need that level of anxiety in my life. 🤣

I came across this quote as I was getting ready to post this. It made me feel better about my consistency level.

“Consistency is contrary to nature, contrary to life. The only completely consistent people are the dead.”

-Aldous Huxley

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
