Something a Little More Abstract

Since I officially started this in October of 2023, I have been struggling to categorize my work within the photography sphere. Most of my images are nature based, but there is a good amount of still life. There really isn’t much I don’t enjoy photographing, other than people. I’m not great with portraits and I hate photographing weddings. I always feel like I am in the way, and never feel like I can adequately capture the magic of that day.

I have spent more time that I would like to admit thinking about the different ways in which people feel the need to distinguish themselves, and I have decided I don’t need to find the smallest, most descript category and fill it to the fullest. I am a photographer that takes pictures of shit that brings me joy.

Just relax and enjoy life as it comes, we don’t need to define every aspect to the end, do we? Certainly not within art we don’t, right?

This trio of images were all taken from an iPhone. My craft really just consists of me seeing visually appealing things and trying to capture the beauty in a still. I hope you enjoy.

Rainbow Trees

I took this image at the Oakland Zoo while we were there for Zoofari in January of 2024. This was taken on my iPhone 14. This year was really amazing. This was on the outskirts of an interactive area. I’m willing to bet not many people even paid attention to the “mood” lighting, but this is the kind of shit I live for. There was a chain link fence in front of me, and these trees were across an animal habitat. (Not sure which animal.)

MOMA Glass

Introducing MOMA Glass, featuring a stunning photograph of the One-Way Color Tunnel installation by Olafur Eliasson. This long, arched walkway sculpture is captured in exquisite detail, reflecting the crystalline patterns of the tunnel. Bring the beauty of this iconic artwork into your home with this original MOMA Glass print.
I wanted to see the Yayoi Kusama exhibit, and this magnificent glass bridge was there on permanent display. I LOVE a great geometric pattern and vibrant colors to boot!!!! Literally what’s not to love?!

Neon Meow

My niece, Cierra, turned 21 in March of 2023. My husband and I took her to Vegas. We each got a matching tattoo with her, after we went to the Meow Wolf art collective. We all really wanted to do the Omega Mart, but turned out we should have bought tickets in advance it was a 45-minute wait. We decided to check out some of the other things in the Area 51 building.  One of those things was Wonk World, it was essentially different rooms you moved through “mini” immersive art installations that felt like they went on forever. This is one of those rooms.
